Worship stands at the center of our lives in faith. It is the unifying event in the life of the congregation where we come together to be nurtured in faith and give thanks through God's Word, Sacraments, Prayers, and Music.
Music and Worship collaborates with Pastor and Director of Music in seeing that church services are conducted regularly in accordance with the liturgy of the Lutheran Church and in providing and supporting the highest quality of the many aspects of a meaningful worship experience.
1. Assist in planning regular and special worship services with Pastor and Music Director.
2. Recruit, support and advance the welfare of the congregation's music ministries.
3. Plan for, in collaboration with the Director of Music, the acquisition and maintenance of equipment for worship and of musical instruments that will enhance the worship experiences of St. James.
4. Recruit, supervise and train competent worship leaders - lectors, communion assistants, ushers, crucifers, greeters, etc.
5. Plan for and coordinate with the Altar Guild for the use and care of all paraments, altar ware, vestments, materials and decorations used in worship.
6. Generate a timeline and prepare for special services during Advent/Christmas and Lent Easter for seasonal decorations and special services.
7. Continue to recruit and include a broad range of congregation members as well as guest musicians toward expanding the musical ensembles of the congregation.
8. Develop a budget that meets the needs to furnish music supplies, maintain musical instruments, pay guest musicians and offer concerts throughout the year. In addition, our budget is charged for communion supplies, candles, and altar flowers that are not requested by a family.
9. Provide an annual report to the congregation. Continue to recruit and include a broad range of congregation members and guest musicians according to their gifts toward expanding the musical ensembles of the congregation.
